Tony Patti: A colourful career

Tony started out 20 years ago doing voluntary work for hospital radio stations and compering events for charity organisations. He then worked for the BBC on both radio and television and gained the label of ‘the UK’s only Asian fire-eating Disc-Jockey’.

Tony’s next move was to Sunrise Radio, heading up the commercial production team as well as presenting the Breakfast and Drive Time shows. By this time he was more in demand than ever, with the highest official listening figures any Asian Radio Station had known for a single programme.

At Spectrum Radio, a subsidiary of TV Asia, Tony helped re-vamp the entire station and again increased the listening figures of The Breakfast Show. It was here that he ran the ‘Bangladesh Appeal-1993’ when his efforts motivated staff and listeners to raise a staggering quarter of a million pounds.

Throughout his career, Tony has been able to indulge his great love of the technical side of DJing. His rigs boast the latest German manufactured digital sound and lighting systems coupled with mind blowing hi-tech audio-visual displays. This interest has helped him expand NTP into one of Greater London’s leading entertainment services companies.

Nowadays Tony Patti is a very busy man. As well as being Sunrise Radio’s Programming Director and popular breakfast DJ, he has numerous other roles. He hosts staff parties for Bill Gates, Richard Branson and the Mayor of London, Ken Livingston; he plays MC alongside the likes of Girls Aloud, and he once hosted the Coca Cola Asian Pop Awards, broadcast on BBC2.

The latter isn’t Tony’s only TV appearance. He co-presented a series for pop shows for international television, along with Miss World 1994 and Miss Kenya in 1999 and 2000. He has also presented and acted in several national and international TV commercials.

His international profile is growing as a result of the Sunrise Radio Tour, which enables him to broadcast his show in locations throughout Asia, while also taking on prestigious private partiy bookings. He has also launched new radio stations in Kenya and Mauritius.

Despite these many and varied interests, Tony remains a performer at heart, delivering his live and broadcast shows with wit, style and total professionalism.
